Borrasca LFO5

A Max for Live audio effect inspired by Bitwig 5's modulators and Vital. This device encapsulates how I use LFOs in Vital and Phase Plant, and allows that workflow anywhere in Ableton. I made this as an improvement over Live's own Shaper device and other similar alternatives.

Features

• 5 MIDI triggered LFOs with 8 modulation slots each.
• "Freeze" button freezes all LFOs to the value of the "Position" knob. Essentially becomes a macro knob with the LFOs as the mapping curves.
• All settings on the left side (speed, freeze, loop, legato) are global and affect all LFOs.
• Mapped parameter's range is converted to percents.
• Uni- / bipolar switch: unipolar has 0% (current parameter value) as the lower range. Bipolar has inverse of the upper range as the lower range, for example -75% to 75%.
• "Clear mods" button removes all mappings from the selected LFO.
• Automatically takes MIDI input from the MIDI track it's placed on, without additional routing, no matter where in the fx chain the device is. Option for MIDI input from another track.
• Regular version (Borrasca LFO5) works both in Live 11 and 12. "Value" slider directly controls the mapped parameter converted to percents, and can be automated.
• Live 12 version (Borrasca LFO5 Live 12) only works in Live 12, and uses the live.modulate~ object instead of live.remote~. The mapped parameter is not taken over by LFO5, but remains directly adjustable and automatable while being modulated. This removed the need for the Value slider.
• "Mod %" sliders control the modulation amount from -100% to 100%.
• NOTE! Make sure to click outside of the device when you are playing notes from the computer keyboard. If the device has click focus, MIDI input from the computer keyboard will be laggy.

Installation

Move Borrasca LFO5.amxd to:

Windows: \Users\[username]\Documents\Ableton\User Library\Presets\Audio Effects\Max Audio Effect

Mac: Macintosh HD/Users/[username]/Music/Ableton/User Library/Presets/Audio Effects/Max Audio Effect

Settings and mappings are recalled properly when the device is saved in a project or within a rack (that contains the mapped parameters' devices). If you find any bugs or problems with this, contact me:
